Jump Rope for Heart

In February, King students participated in Jump Rope for Heart. In Physical Education classes, they jumped rope individually, in groups, and even learned Tinikling (a Philippine folk dance using bamboo poles). Students also learned about their heart, and how it works during exercise. Most importantly, students learned they needed to eat healthy foods, get physically active and stay away from tobacco to keep their hearts healthy.

As a part of Jump Rope for Heart, some students chose to raise money to donate to the American Heart Association. Students at King raised $600 for the AHA, which in turn can help save 12 lives! The students who collected donations were: 2nd Graders – Anthony Mantor, Monyk Lopez, Malyki Howard, and Daevon Lincoln; 3rd Grader – Anna Vu; 4th Graders – David Coleman, Diamond Blackman, and Deizhana Nobles; and 5th graders – Hillary Hansen, Brandon Gallegos, Gisell Orellana and Mindi Heeren. Mindi Hereen was the top fundraiser, collecting $250 for the American Heart Association.
