2014-2015 Kindergarten Sign-Up

It’s not too early to make sure your child is ready to begin Kindergarten for the 2014-2015 school year.

The sign-up process for Kindergarten begins in March. Please read the information below to find out when and where to sign-up your child to attend Kindergarten next year, and what information is required to complete this process.

DO YOU ALREADY HAVE CHILDREN ATTENDING A DMPS SCHOOL OR PRESCHOOL?
Parents or guardians who already have a child or children attending a DMPS school or preschool may sign-up on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at their neighborhood school between the hours of 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM.

IS THIS YOUR FIRST CHILD TO ATTEND DMPS?
Families who are new to Des Moines Public Schools can sign-up in one of the following ways:

• Visit the Welcome Center on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM. No appointment is needed during this time.
• If you are not available to visit on March 26th, please call the Welcome Center at 515-242-7371 to make a separate appointment.

The Welcome Center is located at 1301 2nd Avenue. Regular hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
Everyone is required to bring the following documents to kindergarten sign-ups:

• Birth certificate;
• Resident verification (two of the following items: rental or purchase agreement, valid identification, utility bill, cell phone bill or credit card statement);
• Immunization records.

Please note that children must be five years old on or before September 15, 2014 in order to enroll for Kindergarten for the 2014-2015 school year.
