DMPS will again offer breakfast and lunch over the summer months to children 18 and younger. The number of sites has grown, and so have the number of meals served. Last summer, DMPS staff fed children 28,722 breakfasts and 79,698 lunches. DMPS has sponsored a summer meal program for more than 30 years. King Elementary was represented by two students at the district Gifted/Talented Spelling Bee. Third grader, Aleena Tran made it through four rounds and fourth grader, Dwayne Ellis III made it through five rounds.
King Elementary students were challenged by librarian, Ms. Phanfil to write book reports. Every student that wrote a book report was invited to an ice cream party in the library.
